Owning a dog will not cause sepsis or any other infections or complications from having your spleen removed. Enjoy your dog. They are wonderful creatures. Good luck.

Getting the pneumococcal, hemophilis influenza& neisseria vaccines is important when you lack a spleen. It is also recommended that you have a course of an appropriate antibiotic on hand to start immediately should you contract a bacterial infection. Your physician will advise you.
