There are dozens of strains of the HPV virus and a select few that are site specific to genitals/sexual transmission. The common skin wart is not from a strain that is passed by genital contact/sex. Acquisition of these warts come from exposure to the wart virus on surfaces or hand to hand contact with an infected source.
