This oral progesterone medication is used to potentiate the level (effect) of depot provera (slow released progesterone by injection) in order to stop the breakthrough bleeding which can be due a drop in progesterone level from the last injection. If medication is effective, bleeding will cease then you will be back to your baseline. No menses or irregular cycle is a side effect of depot provera.
