Many patients who have hepatic steatosis never develop NASH. Of those who do, it is a very slow process, sometimes taking decades to progress, although it can happen more quickly also. The most important thing that you can do is to be followed by a primary doctor or a gastroenterologist, try to lose weight if appropriate, and avoid alcohol. Good luck.
