TMJ is a condition that involves inflammation of the joint as well as spasms and pain in the surrounding muscles. It is difficult to treat without addressing the underlying conditions (often jaw clenching and sleep chewing). Talk to your Dentist about an assessment to check if there are signs of these as they can be treated. Talk to your regular Dr about temporary treatment for inflammation.

Contact your dentist, as a nocturnal dental splint may help if this has not been done previously. You may benefit from a second opinion from an oral surgeon.
