I have not seen that granite counter tops are a risk factor for lung cancer. Smoking is a huge risk factor though so if anyone is smoking, they should quit. Doctors can help with smoking cessation. Good luck to you!

Short answer is no. The risk described is for workers that end up inhaling silica dust for years, I am not aware of any risk for households having granite countertops.
