A member asked:

How many hours after birth should a baby have their first feed ? is it okay if a baby had his first feed 5 hours after birth ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is best to breast feed the baby in the first half hour to 2 hours after birth to allow them to eat and bond with the mother. Sometimes there are curcumstances where that cannot happen. If 5 hours was the first time it could happen, then that is fine.
