Does a diagnosis of "multiple somatic complaints" pertain to mental health concerns alone?

The term is a a general "presenting complaint" not a diagnosis. It refers to someone with multiple often vague feelings of discomfort involving several body sites/functions. It may be uses by some indicating they have no firm diagnosis to apply in the encounter.

"Multiple somatic complaints" is NOT a diagnosis, but rather a description of several symptomatic issues which may require future diagnostic studies to uncover potential disease states. In essence, it is an introductory description of usually multiple vague and hard-to-pin-down problems. This may or may not be secondary to emotional problems.
