Conception takes several days. It takes a few for sperm to reach an egg. If conception occurs it takes a few more for a successful implantation in the uterus. If you have fresh red bleeding after recent intercourse it is more likely from tissue injury and nothing to do with conception. The cited average wait to a desired pregnancy is 6 months.
