A member asked:

Are colonoscopies usually scheduled by priority of patient symptoms/scan results?

The majority of colonoscopies are scheduled as screening tests, with some scheduled b/c of symptoms such as rectal bleeding and/or CT or MRI scans of the abdomen indicating colon lesions of unknown types.

Yes, in general, procedures that are urgent are scheduled more quickly than procedures that are routine or for screening. If you feel that your procedure needs to be done more quickly, you should discuss it with your gastroenterologist. Good luck.
