Caffeine affects the release of catecholamines & improves mood. New exposure to caffeine may find you more sensitive and cause worsening of anxiety and agitation. Caffeine is mainly metabolized via CYP1A2 and it can inhibit it too., leading to increased level of serotonergic drugs. Caffeine intake once should not be a major risk. Large amount of caffeine may contribute to serotonin syndrome.
