Can oral steoids help treat echzema?

Yes, but....: Oral steroids will treat eczema, but they have other potential side effects, usually topical treatments are effective. Some topicals are steroids also, but those have potentially less side effects than oral, and there are other topical treatments too, like elidel (pimecrolimus). If you are always given oral steroids, get a second opinion, either a dermatologist, or a different dermatologist if you see one now.

Eczema: Oral steroids can help temporally but after you stop the steroids the eczema may return. But the side effects of oral steroids can be severe. Typical management is with topical cortisone and moistures.
