A member asked:

I have o+ & dad is ab. while overseas i gave birth to my son at 27wks. he died 2 wks later. i am now back home in ca. preliminary tests indicate due to blood incompatibility. does that mean i am sensitized or that my husband & i can't have children?

There are many deadly risk factors for a 27 wk premi and while an ABO issue may have been present, it rarely causes enough trouble to lead to death. I am sorry for your loss but would not consider you "sensitized". That is a term we reserve for O negative mothers exposed to a positive fetus. O positive mothers are not at risk of the major blood type problems.
