A member asked:

Is high heart rate common in people suffering from anxiety disorder and is it dangerous or just frightening?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You have it right that there is increased heart rate in anxiety disorder and it is not safe and being frightened does not help because it makes it worse. The bases is the sympathetic system of fear/flight response is initiated and the increase heart rate is not only what happens but there is change in the structure of the heart and there is possibility of irregular heart beats that sometimes fatal
