My platelets are 134,000. last august, they were 121,000 (just learned this), so they have come up a little at least. my mother had multiple myeloma, and i am wondering if my platelets are cause for concern and if they could be the beginning of mm?

Shortages of red blood cells, white blood cells, and blood platelets are common in multiple myeloma. But medications can also cause a drop in platelets. Also B12 deficiency has been associated with low platelet counts. I would recommend further discussion with your primary doctor to discuss your risk and possible further testing.

Variations in platelet count are not an important feature of multiple myeloma. If you have any concern, talk to your doctor about getting a serum and urine protein electrophoresis.
