This is not rare and thought to be nature's way to avoid pregnancies too close together. But be aware, you can ovulate before your first return menses. If you want to delay a new pregnancy, take precautions. Please follow-up with you doc.

Agree with Dr. Ferguson on the need to use contraception. I trust that the baby is taking other foods as well and not reliant on breast feeding alone. Do consult the child's pediatrician.
