Yes. Any mechanical disruption of the nasal mucosa, either in the septum or in the turbinates, can trigger the sneezing response and subsequent mucus production. Warm saline nasal washes with sterile water can alleviate the irritation. Talk to your Dr about additional measures such as mupirocin ointment to be applied to the nasal mucosa.
