Subdural hematoma is mostly from venous bleeding, it happens when blood vessels in between the covering layers of brain bleed. Brain MRI is an excellent test to look for such bleeding.

A subdural hematoma is secondary to the tearing of bridging veins inferior to the most superficial brain covering, the dura mater. An MRI is an excellent way to visualize presence or absence. Would not order an MRV for this purpose.
