LGV is often diagnosed by history and exam (clinical suspicion). Genital or oral lesions, rectal specimens, and lymph node specimens (swab or aspirate) can be tested for LGV. The CDC has more information here: Lymphogranuloma Venereum (LGV) - STI Treatment Guidelines.
