I wouldn't drink hard liquor or other alcohol beverages until the operative site is fully healed and 3 weeks is a sensible period of time for this. Also if you're taking any pain relievers, abstain from alcohol.

You should avoid alcohol until the tonsillectomy site is completely healed. Alcohol can slow the healing process. So, you need to ask the doctor who performed the surgery whether or not it is ok to drink alcohol at this time or not. If unclear, avoid the alcohol until you are seen by the surgeon again.
