It could be either. Once you become 35, your menstrual cycles are not as predictable as to when you ovulate. Best to test for pregnancy with a few repeated tests, and when you do possibly during that time, you will get your period and then you will know you are not pregnant. If your intention is to not get pregnant, you should always use protection and not have unprotected sex.
