By definition, the platelet count will always be low when TTP is present. There also could be evidence of other organ damage, such as kidneys, neurologic abnormalities, heart problems or anemia, among others. if you think you have drug-induced TTP, contact your doctor immediately. Good luck.

This side effect of Plavix is rather rare but can be devastating. If you note prolongation of bleeding with delayed clotting, see little red spots over your legs and feet, and witness areas of bruising this may be an imminent clue. Platelets are always low with TTP!
