It is predominantly the nervous system but the whole body is affected with release of chemicals that influence and alter normal functioning of the body.

It is pertinent that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome has been labeled by some doctors as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. But, there are NO known anatomical changes in muscles, brain, or spinal cord. There appears to be some change in neurotransmitter function in some of these patients, and perhaps it is best to view CFS as a metabolic disorder.
