The sinus cavities are cave like structures that connect to the nose, this one a pair located within the sphenoid bone at the nasal base. They are formed by age 8-10 and lined by membranes that can make mucus. The wording just means the membranes are thicker than usual and there is some trapped fluid (mucus). This could be from allergies or a cold and in some may be an infection.

This most likely is the incidental finding of a prior sinus infection and raises a question of chronicity. You do not mention your symptoms or the reason for the MRI. Discuss your findings with your doctor and see if this correlates with your issues.
