When the patch is used correctly it prevents pregnancy whether you are using an extra barrier or not. Any form of BC has a failure rate, but the patch when used correctly is equivalent to the pill.

It would be safer to use the condom, as this is something that you control and are not dependent on the woman for compliance with birth control.
