A member asked:

Is accidentally inhaling cola cola worse than inhaling water? would that be considered chemical pneumonia or aspiration pneumonia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The cola is more acidic and likely to cause more irritation. Aspiration pneumonia as a term applies to inhaling anything into the lung that is not supposed to go in there, but usually means a fluid substance. A chemical pneumonia is the effect of aspirating the foreign material. They mean separate things and can both apply to the same event.
