Lately ive been having on and off acid reflux. im in my mid 20s and overweight. what i noticed is that now when im lying down i notice if i breath slightly hard i hear this crackling noise in my throat. any ideas on what it can possibly be?

This could be a symptom of the reflux. When you lay down, the acid is able to more easily reflux into your chest/throat. One solution is to put something under the legs of your bed at the top so that your head is more upright. You could also try an extra pillow to see if that help. See your doctor to treat the reflux. I agree with Dr. Ferranti that this could be a symptom of your reflux. Tilting the bed as she suggests is a good idea. You also could use anti-acid such as Mylanta or Tums on an as needed basis. Weight loss would help. If you continue to have symptoms, see your primary care doctor or gastroenterologist for treatment.
