I know of no studies reflecting safety of melatonin for kids, although some use it is very low doses. I prefer Benadryl with its sedating side effect if something is needed to help them go down. I don't think it is a good idea to let any kid fill their tummy before bed. Laying down places reduces gravities effect keeping it down & it may easily come back up. The stomach squeezes its contents.

Avoid drinks two hours before bedtime. For improved sleep pattern, try a bath and story before bedtime. A quiet sleep environment may also help. Discuss possible side effects with your Pediatrician.
