I ate bad ice cream that gave me very bad diarrhea and food poisoning. i took flagyl and it stopped the diarrhea. now, when i poop it smells like it did when i had diarrhea. what type of infection from food poisoning causes poop to smell so badly?

Presumably you saw a doctor who prescribed metronidazole (Flagyl), right? It might have altered your intestinal bacteria and modified your stool odor, but if so it is harmless, should return to normal soon. It isn't a sign infection of infection if you have no other symptoms like cramping or diarrhea. (Ice cream isn't a likely source of food poisoning, unless melted and room temp a few hours.)
