Any change in bowel movements? mucus? Swollen lymph nodes? May be inflammatory bowel , or even kidney stone( though that is usually very painful) , possible STD ( how long inactive? or hernia . Would follow up with Md for urine test, physical exam, CBC, CMP- metabolic profile, possible imaging.

Just from this description alone it is impossible to pinpoint the cause of the pain. Since the pain is now recurrent, I would make an appointment to see your primary doctor or a G.I. doctor for tests to evaluate for causes. Good luck.
