A member asked:

I was diagnosed with pneumonia but the x-ray also showed a mass in the lower lobe. they said it could be due to pneumonia but could not be ruled out as cancer. im to repeat x-ray to see if its gone. what are the chances its just due to pneumonia?

Pneumonia can cause inflammatory changes that look like a mass. If this is the case, it gets better after the pneumonia resolves. You get better before your X-ray does so repeating the x-ray after you are better is the next step. If it is still there, you should get a CT scan and see a lung doctor since you would need further testing, including a biopsy. Take it one step at a time. Good luck.
