This vaccine is not used in the civilian population, but its actions remain the same as before they stopped regular use in 1980. There are some people who are non-responders. I am not aware that has any significance to you. Back in the 1960's the school nurse would come around and give it as often as needed to eventually get a response, but that was when spotty smallpox activity was still seen.

Some people react more vigorously to the vaccine than others. There is no difference in protection against smallpox. Anyway, smallpox doesn't exist anywhere in the world, so you cannot be exposed -- unless someday it is released as a biological weapon, which is why you were vaccinated in the military. (If you are at risk for monkeypox, smallpox vaccination may help protect you.)
