It is a concern if you did not have these antibodies before the total thyroidectomy. If these antibodies were present before the surgery (10% normal people have these antibodies), it is difficult to interpret the result of serum thyroglobulin which should be zero post TT. By UPTODATE: all laboratories that measure serum Tg should test for anti-Tg abs in any serum sample submitted for Tg assay.
