You probably should leave your retainers out if you are nauseous since you could lose them if you vomit. You also wouldn’t want to choke on them. Call your doctor if the nausea continues so that the cause can be identified and treated. Could you be pregnant? If so, perhaps take a pregnancy test? Best of luck to you!

Not a bad idea, however your focus should be on your current sickness, seeking medical attention, proper hydration, etc. If asking in general, your orthodontist remains your best reference, follow recommendations, if persistent nausea you will have to have it addressed regardless.

Patients who threw up into the commode often flush their retainers. If you're nauseous, remove your retainers then call your General Physician to help you determine cause. Once nausea has been controlled, retainers back in as soon as possible. But before you do, put them into Denture Cleaner (Polident, Efferdent, Clear Brite, etc ) to eliminate pathogens, and use denture cleaner tablet daily.
