The origin of any seizure activity must be determined by a medical evaluation that includes a history, exam and testing. There are many possibilities.

The sudden onset of a seizure disorder in a prior nonepileptic is indicative of brain abnormality, such as a stroke, tumor, chemical imbalance, a toxin, recreational drugs such as meth or cocaine, alcohol withdrawal, medication reactions, etc. There is ALWAYS an underlying reason which needs to be revealed.
