The lesions you describe are probably canker sores but they aren't known as a side effect of phentermine by PDR. net & Drugs.com. If you have been on diet for quite some time, you should try multivitamins with minerals such as Centrum every day. Use Oragel (numb gel for teething pain) before meals for alleviating pain. Canker sores are self limited, see doctor if problem persists more than 2 wks.
