A member asked:

I quit smoking 6 years ago. 2 months ago i relapsed, probably smoked about 10 packs during that time. my question is did i totally negate the healing my body and lungs have made during the 6 years of not smoking? thank you?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No, but it will take 6 months for your lungs to remove the residual debris left from the new round of smoking. At that point you are likely back where you were if you stay away from smoking.
