I think i have impacted stool as 4 doses of milk of magnesia yesterday and 2 today only resulted in severe cramping. what to do?

A truly impacted stool will rarely move with meds from above. Either use an enema to dislodge it or go in to have it manually removed (gloved fingers).

Agree with Dr. Ferguson. To prevent constipation - You may take a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink enough water daily so that your urine is colorless. For the long term you may try to increase your intake of fiber foods. Consult this site for fiber foods. http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/high-fiber-foods/art-20050948 Wish you good health!
