Erythema ab igne: When the skin is exposed to chronic low level heat, like a heating pad, space heater or a fireplace, over time blood vessels in the exposed areas are damaged and form a netlike brown to violaceous pattern on the skin, called erythema ab igne. Whether it resolves depends on how long the heat applications were done. Sometimes in the early stages it goes away. It needs to be watched by dermatology.
