A member asked:

I am currently on phentermine 37.5 mg and i am also on amitriptyline 35 mg for migraines. is it safe to take these two together at these doses? i am concerned about developing serotonin syndrome?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Phentermine can theoretically raise serum serotonin levels, but since amytriptiline doesn't belong to the class of antidepressants called SSRIs, I wouldn't worry about the combination causing the serotonin syndrome. Your pharmacist can validate this advice.
