There are different amounts of caffeine in chocolate depending on the type & these can have the same effect as drinking coffee.

Chocolate does contain caffeine-candy more than hot chocolate. Hot chocolate has a very small amount of caffeine but it is not zero. So, if you are trying to be completely caffeine-free, then cutting out chocolate would be needed. If you are trying to minimize your caffeine intake (but not eliminate it), then avoid chocolate in the form of candy as this has more caffeine than hot chocolate.
