A member asked:

Hello, i've been having extremely painful bloating during periods for years, i'm 22. i have been to many doctors for consultation, there's no problem with my uterus or stomach, only bloating is seen on x-ray. i always eat home-cooked meals?

Painful "bloating" with menstruation may indicate endometriosis, which allows endometrial cells which have migrated into the abdominal cavity to have withdrawal bleeding, which is an irritant to normal intestinal function. See your GYN physician and ask about low dose oral bcps, which attenuate ovarian hormonal activity, and help to preserve fertility.

Your doctor can prescribe pills that can limit your period to once a year. Talk to your gynecologist for your suitability for the medication. Get HPV vaccine. Wish you good health! Safe sex: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/safer-sex-guidelines
