When high blood pressure (hypertension) is diagnosed, it should be treated and patient should take medication(s) daily, not only taking when BP is high & not taking when numbers are normal. Of course, dose can be adjusted up or down based on blood pressure monitoring and symptoms. In general, BP ranges of 120-130/80-85 are reasonable for most ages but goal may vary individually and comorbidity.
