A member asked:

3yr history of high creatinine n urea, would you do gfr? trying to figure out how i picked it but docs didn't i had to fight to get him tested!

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Reduced GFR: The person you are writing about needs to see a nephrologist (n) to have a 24 hour urine collected for creatinine clearance and protein. Blood work will need to taken to see if a diagnosis can be made of the cause of his kidney disease. A renal ultrasound should be done as well to see the size and morphology of the kidneys. Early treatment of kidney disease is best to prevent future problems.
