The effectiveness of omega 3 for patients with cardiovascular disease is still controversial and the poor quality of this supplement in OTC market. Even when you eat salmon for fish oil benefit, the original source of the salmon is also important because not all salmons in the grocery markets give you the same fish oil. Omega-3 by prescription is more valuable if patient really needs it.
