What would cause a painless, transient, pimple-like bump on the roof of the mouth? it will appear for a few days and then disappear for 2-3 weeks. sometimes it will disappear within hours?

In view of the painless, transient nature of these lumps on the roof of your mouth, I suspect a harmless cause such as tiny cysts that dissipate, or minor injury or irritation/allergic reaction from foods or beverages. .Ask your dentist what he/she thinks about these on your next visit.
