Ive been taking 65 mg of iron supplement for about 27 days because i heard it helps people sleep. one of my coworkers told me thats a toxic amount? am i in risk of toxicity or damaging my organs?

You co-worker is correct. Upper Limits of Iron Intake According to the Institute of Medicine, most adults can consume up to 45 milligrams of elemental iron daily without toxicity occurring. At doses greater than 45 mg, you may begin to feel GI pain, nausea, vomiting. Continued use can lead to buildup in tissues and result in potentially fatal damage to the brain and liver.

Iron daily requirement in male is lower than female: 8.7mg a day for men over 18. 14.8mg a day for women. There is no contradictions in what both people told you however contextually the iron supplement would only help somebody with low iron. Supplemental iron in male is often not required unless there was loss that warrants it. We do not have enough info about you to say you need iron supplement
