A member asked:

Hello, thank you in advance. i am on a very low dose of atenolol, not even 12.5 mg a day. it affects my central nervous system, makes me weak, achy and tingling. mostly controls hr, but dr. wants to switch me to propranolol. is this better tolerated?

I think you're better off with atenolol which is more specific for cardiovascular system while propranolol has less cardiovascular specificity and potentially more side effects. People who can't tolerate any beta blockers can obtain similar effects on heart rate with diltiazem or verapamil which are calcium channel blockers and very well tolerated.
