The so-called funny bone is the ulnar nerve. Direct trauma to a nerve is usually painful. The so-called "funny bone" is NOT a bone at all but an impact to the ulnar nerve at the cubital tunnel or olecranon fossa. Nerve trauma is commonly painful.
