Priapism can be a medical emergency. The prolonged erection can ultimately cause the blood flow in and around the Penile tissues to stagnate and cause tissue death from lack of blood flow. Be seen in the ER ASAP to determine the cause of this, to determine if there is ischemia and to alleviate the erection.
